Get to Know Dr. Stacey Good
Three years later, I qualified for the 70.3 Ironman World Championships. The experience was incredible, but it also showed me the limits of balancing elite training with family life and a demanding medical career on my own. Learning to trust a coach—and to let go of control—was one of the hardest and most rewarding steps I’ve taken (second only to launching this practice).
Life Beyond Medicine
When I’m not in the ER, serving as Chief Medical Officer, or training for my next race, you’ll find me on the lake, coaching youth soccer, or learning violin alongside my oldest son.
I’m a Wisconsin native at heart (Go Pack Go!) who came west for medical training, fell in love with the mountains, and never looked back. During my emergency medicine residency, I met my husband while we were both commissioned in the Army. After several military moves, we eventually landed in Sandpoint, Idaho—a small resort town in the northern Panhandle that has become our outdoor playground. It’s the perfect place for our two young boys, who keep us moving between Schweitzer Mountain in the winter and Lake Pend Oreille in the summer.
From Team Sports to Triathlon
Sports have always been part of my story. I grew up playing every sport I could—often as the only girl on boys’ teams—before focusing on soccer and basketball. I went on to play Division I collegiate soccer, where I learned the value of discipline, resilience, and teamwork.
Medical school introduced me to distance running, and residency brought me into CrossFit and Olympic lifting. I competed for several years while still taking on the occasional marathon. That foundation has carried me through every chapter of my fitness journey.
After moving to Sandpoint, I discovered my love for the water when I signed up for the town’s annual “swim across the lake” event—just six months after having my second son. I hadn’t swum seriously since childhood, but the challenge sparked something new. From there, I dusted off my road bike, stepped into the world of triathlon, and never looked back.
